Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) is one of Iran's main public medical universities, established in 1974 in Tehran near the world's sixth-highest tower, Milad Tower. Since 1986, the University has been under the administrative jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education for all academic operations. It is one of the most well-known academic health facilities in the country and the region. In the national ranking entrance exams for universities, its pupils rank among the top 1% of Iranian students. In Tehran, the university has ten schools (Medicine, Nursing & Midwifery, Public Health, Health Management, and Information Sciences, Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Advanced Technologies in Medicine, Allied Medical Sciences, and Medicine and Pharmacy in its International Campus), two centers, two institutes, twenty-nine research centers, seventeen teaching and fifteen non-teaching hospitals, and two centers, two institutes, twenty-nine research centers, seventeen teaching, and fifteen non-teaching hospitals. International students are accepted into almost all degree programs at IUMS, including healthcare professional degrees like medicine, pharmacy, and nursing. The Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC), which is recognized by the UK Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and the UK Office for Standards in Education, has granted it premier status (Ofsted). Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) is a pioneer in delivering academic and health-care services to about 5.2 % of the country's population, including professors, researchers, students, staff, and the general public. The university's mission is to promote health-care-related goals on a national and international level, including educational policies and programs, while also providing excellent service to its community and beyond
